Jordan Gillis, Coaches Aid: Hello Drew how are you doing?
Drew Kreutzfeldt, Chester: I'm doing good thanks.
JG: So far this season the Chester Area Flyers are 4-2, and currently on a 3 game winning streak. How can you describe this season so far?
DK: Well we started the year with extremely high expectations, and the record isn't where we wanted it to be, but its how we finish the year and we are getting better each week.
JG: As a junior what have you learned so far this year that you think will help you the rest of this season and next year?

Drew Kreutzfeldt stands in the pocket
DK: Well I started varsity my freshman year, and if my experience has taught me anything its that you can always improve. Whether its reading defenses or simply improving my footwork, you constantly need to be improving yourself. As for my future I can only hope my hard work pays off into what my goal is, a state championship.
JG: Last week you led Chester over Alcester-Hudson 44-14. You threw 3 TDs and had two others one a run and an interception return. What can you say about the game?
DK: The weather conditions were not to our favor as it made it tougher to run our spread offense, but we eventually got rolling and continued to keep the heat on. It wasn’t necessarily one of our better games but a win is a win and we will take it.
JG: Where do you prefer to play on game day, on offense or defense?
DK: Well I play quarterback and safety, but I love the quarterback position and would rather be under center.
JG: You play on a 9 man football team, what do you think is those most different other than have two less men on the field? Do you think you would have issues adjusting to 11-man if you play in college?

Drew Kreutzfeldt leads the Chester defense from the safety position
DK: I actually have played 11 man in the past and I think the biggest difference is the importance to being able to run outside the ends and take advantage of the open space. I don’t think it would be much of a change. We run a college based spread offense and so I don’t see and transaction problems.
JG: This Friday you are headed to Canistota to take on Canistota/Bridgewater, what kind of game plan do you have for next weeks’ game?
DK: Well this weeks game will actually be played on a 80-yard field, which really hurts us as we run a spread out offense and we really use our speed but we will have to adjust and we have adjusted our game plan accordingly to the conditions.
JG: In the playoffs if you get another shot at Mt Vernon or Howard who count for Chester’s two losses, do you think the team can make adjustments for the win?
DK: Well we are really looking at another shot at Howard, they are in our region and they left a bitter taste in our mouth after they beat us. But we are extremely confident that if we execute better and don’t let the big play hurt us we believe the outcome will be different.
JG: Outside of football do you play any other sports? If so what is your favorite to play?
DK: I play football, basketball, and track. I have family members who play college basketball, but I see myself playing college football after I graduate.
JG: Looking through box scores I see that there is another Kreutzfelt on the team who ends up catching some of your touchdown passes. Assuming he’s your brother, what’s it like playing with him? Do you ever throw in some backyard plays?
DK: He is actually my twin brother. We really enjoy playing with each other I always look to him in key situations. We both read the defense pre snap and if we see something we can give each other a look and we will be on the same page. I really enjoy it.
JG: Outside of sports do you have any other hobbies or favorite activities you like to do?
DK: I’m just like any other teenager, and as long as it is in my character. I just look to have fun with friends and family.
JG: As a Junior itis quite a ways away, but have you thought about your athletic future in college?
DK: Everyday. It is a goal of mine to play in college, but I’m still young and need to focus on the task at hand now, a state championship.
JG: And finally if you could spend the day with any athlete (live or dead) who would you want to spend the day with, and what would you like to do?
DK: Brett Favre. I’m a Vikings fan obviously! I've never seen anything like him before, his passion for the game is unbelievable, and he always has a smile on his face. I have a lot of respect for him. I would just like to be around the guy and football, you learn a lot more in person than through TV.
JG: Thanks again! Good luck, hopefully we'll get to chat again soon at state football!
