The Star Tribune is reporting that DeLaSalle quarterback Evan Williams, the state's leading rusher, will miss the final two games of the regular season with a broken bone in his hand.
Williams has rushed for 1,474 yards in six games, and has passed for 1,110. Combined, the senior has 30 touchdowns for the Islanders, who are ranked second behind Glencoe-Silver Lake in Class 3A. DeLaSalle, playing without its game-changer in the backfield, still managed another lopsided victory Wednesday night, this one a 52-13 rout over Breck.
The Islanders are 7-0, and finish the regular season next week with a pivotal matchup against Minnehaha Academy. Williams, who injured his non-throwing (left) hand, is expected to return for the playoffs.
Williams recently received a scholarship offer from Minnesota, to go along with one from Wyoming. Wisconsin and Northern Iowa are expected to follow suit in the near future.
